McCoy Station Wedding | JP & Brittany
Photographing a Mammoth Mountain Wedding is such a special experience each and every time. There’s just something magical about celebrating a marriage halfway up a mountain that has held such a big part of your heart for so many years.
Mammoth Mountain in California is one of my favorite places in the world. Growing up just 35 minutes away I have spent countless days on that mountain. I snowboarded here every winter from age 4 to age 19, rode mountain bikes in the summer, and even photographed my very first wedding here. Thank you, Steve Dutcher, for bringing me along to that first wedding and allowing me to realize this passion.
Two people who also share a love for Mammoth, are JP and Brittany. They decided to have their friends and family join them at McCoy Station to celebrate their wedding.
After the bride and groom preparation before the wedding, I would be lying if I said we all had no worries about the wind. The rooftop of Mammoth’s McCoy Station is where the ceremony was scheduled to take place that afternoon. The wind was howling! ‘Mums n Roses’ who supplied the flowers, did a wonderful job of getting everything tightly secured despite the wind.
Everyone remained positive however and something magical happened. The mountain wind came to a screeching halt at the beginning of the ceremony and was almost non-existent until JP and Brittany shared their first kiss. After that moment, the wind returned. It worked out the way it was meant to.
Just take in the beautiful ceremony views in Mammoth.
Some groomsmen can be stiff, and not really ‘into’ the wedding party photo session. I can happily say that was not these guys. From getting ready, til the end of the reception, they had continuous positive energy.
Again, despite the wind, JP and Brittany had so much love and laughter flowing during the bride and groom session.
Parallax is the name of the reception area inside McCoy Station. The details are always beautiful, but this dessert table was definitely my favorite. It all tasted even better than it looked.
The reception was in full swing as soon as the couple entered the room and began their first dance. Rick from Fresh Tracks Entertainment, who I very highly recommend for a DJ, got the party started and no one was going to let it stop. The bride and groom, the wedding party, and plenty of guests let loose on the dance floor until the last song ended. It is always the best when the bride and groom are fired up on the dance floor because it keeps that energy so high for everyone else. I mean, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to dance with the couple on their wedding night?
Of course, we had to go outside for a few minutes, endure the cold, and get a few environmental portraits. The view from Mammoth Mountain cannot go unappreciated.
